SCOTTISH JUNIOR CUP FINAL
EAST END PARK DUNFERMLINE
SUNDAY 3rd JUNE 2007

The first half was far from classic as both sides looked nervous
Brian Carrigan came closest for Rose when his powerful drive
from a tight angle was turned wide by Alan Fleming
Stuart McArthur also had a chance when he swept a
Carrigan cross over the bar.
In the second half things picked up and both sides settled into
the match and created some chances.
Rose were dealt a blow when Gordon Herd was forced off injured
to be replaced by Ian McSween and then Euan Donaldson had to
come of the bench as Mike McDermott had also taken a knock
Greig Denham was in commanding form at the back for Rose but
after a clash he sustained a broken nose but insisted on playing on
only for a further heavy clash of heads to end his day in a pool of blood

This allowed Mark Whyte to enter the fray in the 79th minute in what
he states is his last season at the club.
With 82 minutes played East End Park erupted as Brian Carrigan pounced
on a slack clearance and side footed under Fleming to put Rose in
front and seemingly on course for the cup.

Kelty though had other idea's and when Steven Oliver parried a
Scott Lawrie thunderbolt Ian Mauchline reacted first to prod the ball into
the Rose net and send the final to extra time.
with time almost up and penalties looking certain a strong run
by Ian McSween saw Andy Rollo all over the Rose striker but the ref
allowed the pair to continue till Rollo made a good tackle but the play
was brought back and a foul awarded to Rose.
With just 25 seconds remaining Brian Carrigan sent in a near post ball
where Mark Whyte arrived timing his run to perfection getting in front
of Graeme Findlay and flashing an unstoppable header past the rooted Fleming.

The Rose support behind the goal went wild as this was
the goal that would confirm that Rose would once again lift the coveted
trophy for the third time in the clubs history.
