Hill of Beath 3-0 Linlithgow

HILL OF BEATH blew away Linlithgow Rose with a devastating seven-minute spell early in the second half.

Neither keeper was really tested in a first half of few chances and ragged play by both teams.

The game sprung into life in the 50th minute when the home team moved into the lead in controversial circumstances. As Stephen Bathgate raced clear onto a through ball the assistant referee raised his flag before changing his mind and putting it down again. With the Rose defence static, Bathgate rounded Greg Logan with ease and fired into the unprotected net.

The Rose defence failed to learn their lesson and were caught out again in similar circumstances five minutes later.

This time a long ball saw Bathgate beat the offside tr
ap and as Greg Logan advanced to meet him for the second time the striker fired a low shot past him to give the Haws a two-goal lead.
Incredibly the Rose defence were caught high and square again just two minutes later and Fraser Beveridge found himself running clear to face the unfortunate Logan. Having drawn the keeper Beveridge squared for Bathgate who rolled the ball into the net from 20 yards to complete a rapid hat-trick.

While Bathgate celebrated his hat-trick, Rose were left contemplating a hat-trick of their own – three defeats in a row.
