Tayport 0-1 Linlithgow Rose
Tyrrell (63)
This match was over-shadowed by a horror leg break sustained by Mark Bradley in the 80th minute following a tackle by Derek Wemyss who was shown a red card. The game was held up for 30 minutes with the Rose man lying stricken on the pitch until he could be lifted into the ambulance.
Linlithgow threatened first when a short corner caught Tayport napping and Mark Bradley's cross was headed wide by Tommy Coyne.
Rose felt they could have had a penalty when Manson was up-ended on the edge of the box by Gunnion but the referee awarded a free kick.
A scramble in the Rose box resulted in the ball heading goalwards and Linlithgow had Bradley to thank for clearing the ball off the line.
The half ended with Rose on top but having nothing to show for their efforts.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Dave Baikie made a triple change to send on Roddy MacLennan, Mark Tyrrell and Colin Strickland.
The change paid instant dividends as Rose took the lead three minutes later. Bradley laid the ball off and Tyrrell swept a majestic 25 yard shot into the net via the post.
The match was then marred by the injury to Bradley in the 80th minute.
When the game eventually resumed both sides were down to ten men as Rose had no substitutes left. The remaining ten minutes were played out almost entirely in Tayport's half as Linlithgow showed impressive professionalism to focus on the task in hand and bring home the three points.
Linlithgow Rose: McPherson, Kelly, Virgili, Ward, Wilson, Bradley, Manson (McLennan 60), Nelson, King (Strickland 60), Coyne, McArthur (Tyrrell 60). Subs: Trialist, Livingstone.
