DEACONS COURT

The Court of the Deacons of the Ancient and Royal Burgh of Linlithgow
is a voluntary organisation made up of male and
female deacons from town organisations
and other elected men and women members whose prime function is to finance,
prepare and run the Marches.
This is a year round task which annually gets more
difficult as the Marches Day costs rise to over £15,000. Through dances,
Burns Suppers, Street Fairs, raffles and donations the necessary money is
raised to pay for the parade and the participating bands.

DEACONS COURT 2010

Meeting October 5th 2010
Deacons Court held the first meeting after the summer recess, the Provost paid tribute to
Ken Lindsay who will be sadly missed, not only by the court,
but by many organisations in the town.
There were several thank you and congratulation letters about the 2010 Marches from various
bodies who took part. The details of the Annual Ball, to be held in the Academy on Friday 29th October 2010,
were discussed, all of which are well in hand and invitations have been sent out.

Preparations for the Burns Supper were also outlined. General concerns about the
marquee for next year’s Civic Week, were expressed, with meetings to taking place between
the Civic Festival committee and West Lothian Council being arranged.

We would have to await the outcomes of these meetings before the position was clear. Another area
of concern was the further delays in the opening of the Town Hall, which could again impact on the running of the Marches, also some clarification on the appointment of caterers for the Town Hall would be needed before any arrangements could be made.

Lastly court was reminded that the AGM is to be held on the 9th November 2010 in the Guide Hall at 7.30pm

THE FIRST TUESDAY AFTER THE SECOND THURSDAY IN JUNE
